After much internal debate i couldn t take it anymore and started ripping up the carpet on our stairs.

I ended up cutting it a little more and folding the carpet under and stapling it down at the edge of the wood that is at the top of the staircase.

If there s a metal nosing at the top of the stairs pry it up to remove it.
Ripping up the carpet was hard and messy work.
If that s the case with your carpeted stairs you may be thinking of tearing up the carpet to give it an update or replace it with a new look entirely.

This works fine for now.
Wear proper safety gear such as safety goggles or glasses gloves and a face mask to avoid cuts flying debris and dust while removing the carpet.
Wear gloves to protect your hands from the staples that hold the carpet in place.
Our spindles are attached directly to our treads so that means the carpet was wrapped around these spindles.
Carpeted stairs consist of a carpet pad nosing tack strips tread riser and carpet.
